Sitting Buddha

Acrylic, oil and Gold leaf on palette board 40cm x 60cm

Inspired by my many visits to Temples and the culture in Thailand my sitting Buddha was a real inspirational piece. It is painted on a panel that resembles to me the way an artist in an old part of Thailand who has no way of getting their hands on a canvas and would paint on anything that was found in and around a temple, as though they were inspired to paint and would paint on the first thing that came to hand!

I have mounted the painting in this hand crafted box frame which I feel gives a real sense of time and presence with this work.
