Timeless Memory

Timeless Memory interior view

Acrylic, oil and gold leaf on canvas

145cm × 145cm

£6,200

Timeless Momory arrived in 2024 after I was offered a set of beautifully built tray‑framed canvases from a local art supplier — an invitation to go large again, and one I couldn’t refuse. I had just completed an extensive series inspired by a sketch exercise, abstracting the colours and fluidity of beach life and the temple atmosphere of Thailand. As this piece developed, I found myself drifting between those enigmatic marks from that series and slipping back into the earlier work shaped by my cycle rides around Devon a few years before.

When I paint, I lean into the subconscious — that quiet place where instinct takes over — and the painting unfolded with a dream‑like quality of its own. Once finished, it holds me. I feel the jewels of life within it, and at the same time its pure freeness and unapologetic presence. To me, it’s a reflection of you — whoever it speaks to, whoever it reaches. Does it speak to you too.

Summer Bliss

Summer Bliss interior view

Acrylic, oil and gold leaf on canvas

145cm × 145cm

£6,200

Summer Bliss is anything but blissful for me. It’s an uncomfotive piece — trumbling your mind, dissolving your reality, winding you up in ways you don’t expect. I’ve never felt at ease with it. Even now, when I gaze into it, I feel the struggle I had while painting it, and the struggle it still gives back. It pushes, it resists, it mishes with your mind — those hints of sea, water, maybe sand — and then, suddenly, the painting reveals its truth.

For nearly two years it has hung on different walls in my home gallery, and each time I pass it I feel that same unease. Will it keep fighting, or will it finally settle? You reach a point where you have to let go, and once you do, the canvas begins to take you instead. Trust this painting: it does have its own beauty. Once you find it, it becomes the powerful piece it was always meant to command.

Summer Bliss painting

No single painting can hold so many lives, yet Summer Bliss delves into them all. It might be rough around the marks, not soft or succulent in any way, but it’s wild — as wild as nature itself. It could be as simple as a beach scene, or it could be something far deeper, something that trumbles your thoughts and dissolves your certainty. Let your eyes travel.

Breathe - Large canvas (6feet sq)

Painting Breathe

Acrylic on canvas - canvas made in the studio with top grade canvas and 5cm depth stretcher bars

162cm × 162cm

£10,485

Breathe emerged after a run of landscape‑inspired works, built through multiple layers that push and pull against each other until the whole surface feels alive. It’s a dense, wild, textured piece — the kind of canvas that doesn’t sit quietly but pulls you in, asking you to stay with it. There’s a sense of height in this painting, almost an aerial sweep over land meeting sea or the mouth of a river. The atmosphere shifts as you look: weather rolling in, light breaking through, nature doing what it does best — reminding us that it’s in charge, not us mere mortals.

Despite its intensity, there’s play in this work too. Marks collide, colours breathe, and the whole canvas builds towards a kind of living crescendo. Breathe keeps growing the longer you stand with it, holding you there, glued to its evolving moments.

Do you want to see this in the flesh? You can. Just contact me to visit my Home Gallery, or if you’d prefer to see it in your own space, we can arrange that too. If you’re overseas, a viewing is still possible — we simply ask for a holding fee so we know you’re genuinely considering the piece. Art can be a challenging dance for both sides, so let’s talk first. All I want is for you to live with a painting that truly belongs in your world.

Indulgence (7feet sq)

Painting by Martin Bush Indulgence

Acrylic on canvas - canvas made in the studio with top grade canvas and 5cm depth stretcher bars

215cm × 215cm

POR

Indulgence as the title suggests, marks one of those moments when painting at scale becomes a true pleasure — an indulgence in colour, movement, and sheer physicality. I’ve painted murals far larger, but this piece carries the thrill of those early days in my first studio gallery at the Royal William Yard. I’d just been invited into a cavernous space, and once I settled in, I set to work creating several large canvases to fill the void. These works quickly caught the imagination of people wandering through to view the show apartments; the scale, the energy, the freedom of the marks all seemed to stop visitors in their tracks.

Most of those early large works have long since sold, which makes Indulgence a rare survivor from that period — a chance to own one of my first big pieces, created when my mind was wide open and full of the unknowns of the future. If you’ve got a wall big enough, this is a slice of my beginnings, painted with excitement, curiosity, and a whole lot of heart.

Echoes of Summer

Echoes of Summer

Acrylic on canvas

240cm × 118cm including frame

POR

A new experiment always demands new marks and methods, and paintings at this scale often become one‑offs — complete statements in their own right. Echoes of Summer felt exactly like that: a piece that stood firmly on its own, without needing a supporting flow of smaller works to reinforce its presence. Summer itself becomes the current running through it, with hidden colours nudging the viewer to imagine something just beyond the surface. I found myself peering into my love for the world around our city, with a subtle drift toward Californian warmth and light woven into the mix.

This painting is mounted on a box frame, and it can be sold without the stylish frame above. We can also add a tray frame — all options work beautifully depending on the space and the look you’re after.

Ocean 19

Ocean framed

Acrylic and oil on canvas

220cm × 105cm with frame

£3,285

Ocean 19 took its name from an earlier painting I created years before — a larger piece that was much loved and carried a strong presence. That original work was titled Ocean, and this painting grew directly from it; in 2019 the marks, colours, and energy I’d explored in Ocean resurfaced and flowed naturally into this new piece.

The decision to work in this shape came from its popularity at the time — it sits beautifully on the walls of modern homes, slipping into a space with ease. And so Ocean 19 was born. It’s been with me ever since, but it’s ready for a new home now, so let’s talk.

Wild in Autumn

Wild in Autumn Interior Shot

Acrylic and oil on canvas

220cm × 75cm with frame

POR

Wild Autumn has a few sisters, and as the nights draw in I always feel my soul trying to hold onto Summer — even though we have no choice in the matter. As the wild landscape slips into hibernation, I feel myself doing the same each year. Because I paint what I feel, this piece says it all: that shift, that longing, that quiet surrender to the season.

The frame is optional, and we can give it a slimmer, more artist‑led feel if you prefer. I often move between the grand statement of a full frame and the simplicity of pure artwork on a wall — it really depends on the interior it’s destined for. Some spaces call for presence, others for subtlety, and both approaches let the painting breathe in their own way.

Positive Path

Positive Path framed

Acrylic and oil on canvas

230cm × 105cm with frame

POR

Positive Path belongs to a large, sun‑soaked series I created between 2014 and 2016 — paintings born from the bright, beach‑holiday energy that carried me through that period of my life. Those years felt expansive, full of drive and possibility, and the colours simply poured out of me. The work eventually culminated in a major exhibition at Royal William Yard, where the old dockyard architecture met the optimism and charm of the series. It felt like an explosion of light and confidence; I remember telling visitors to bring their shades. You can explore the rest of the series here.

As mentioned before, the frame is optional and would need to be ordered, but a more minimal approach is always available too. The art is the true prize; the framing simply helps it settle into its environment with the right balance and presence. I like to see the space first and talk it through, so we can choose what lets the painting breathe exactly as it should.
