Plymouth's Smeaton's Tower Paintings.
For those who don't know here is what our famous iconic tower is all about - Smeaton's Tower is a redundant lighthouse, now a memorial to civil engineer John Smeaton, designer of the third and most notable Eddystone Lighthouse. A major step forward in lighthouse design, Smeaton's structure was in use from 1759 to 1877, until erosion of the ledge it was built upon forced new construction. The tower was largely dismantled and rebuilt on Plymouth Hoe in Plymouth, Devon, where it stands today.
Acrylic on canvas 87cm x 87cm including frame
I really enjoyed painting this and felt the flow was very much driven by the inclement weather that sometimes blows through, Stormy and moody the weather is always on the move up there.
As it is on a deep edge canvas I can sell it without the frame at a reduced price, please enquire for more information and options to own this lovely piece.
